There are any number of things to do in the area - hopefully this will give you a flavour.
WalkingThe whole area is ideal for those keen on walking. If you just want to go for a walk from the villa there are numerous tracks our more energetic guests choose to run on. Further afield, there is the Lycian Way and we can also arrange walks with a local guide into the mountains. The Saklikent Gorge is a fascinating walk. BeachesThe best local beach is at Patara, whilst at Olu Deniz the beach itself is more pebbly but has plenty to do. Calis Beach (just beyond Fethiye) has a promenade with a wide selection of restaurants. Para-glidingIf you're feeling brave this gives you breathtaking views over Olu Deniz. You drive up the local mountain (Baba Dag), launch off in the safe hands of a local pilot and float (fly?) out over the bay to enjoy the views. Rubber ringingAs an alternative to walking up the gorge at Saklikent, hire a rubber ring and a guide takes you down the river for a couple of miles or so. Boat tripsBoat trips can be arranged from both Fethiye and Calis Beach. You visit secluded bays, swim, have a delicious lunch and it's all remarkably good value. Sight seeingThere are ruins and things to see scattered all over the area as you would expect from a region that has been continuously occupied for two thousand years. Fethiye, whilst a busy working town also a castle and ancient tombs to visit. The most noteworthy of the numerous ruins to visit are at Xanthos, Tlos and Patara. From more recent times, there is the 'abandoned village' which was a thriving community until the 1920s when the local greeks went back to Greece. |
