Driving
past Saklikent Gorge, alongside the river and through pine forests you
can get to Patara beach. This beach is 15 kms
of sand and you can walk to find a deserted spot. Otherwise at the
Patara village end there are all the facilities that you might want
sunbeds, umbrellas and a restaurant. Although it is not crowded
even here.
Between Patara village and the beach, there are ruins of the Roman port
and marshes which are the result of the port silting up over centuries.
In the village, you can find canoe trips in the marshes to see the ruins and the wild life.

"We were only expecting a beach at Patara and the ruins came as a very pleasant surprise" - Barkeses
"My favourite of all was our trip to Patara beach (off road) so we saw the fabulous and stunning dunes
with no-one else there - we watched the sunset, drank our beer/coke and had a fabulous swim in the warm
sea before having a picnic - my idea of heaven!" - Carrs
